Walker’s documentary portrays the Amish's tradition “rumspringa”, which occurs when the children turn 16 years old. Star Trek fans can compare it with the vulcan tradition “pon farr”. The extremely strictly kept teenagers are at 16 allowed to visit “the English world” and all hell breaks loose. No teens party like the Amish. They arrange big parties which draws thousands of beer chugging Amish youths and friends from all parts of the US. The hormones are allowed to roam free for the first time, so you can imaging how things turn out. It turns out that the Amish let the boys go to bed with their girlfriends before marriage.
