Laced with tart dialog, State & Main explores what will happen when a cell-phone-wielding movie crew invades a quaint New England town whose residents are too ready to jettison pastoral grace for showbiz glitz. Part Hollywood satire, part screwball comedy, State & Main follows screen- writer Joe White (Philip Seymour Hoffman), whose old-fashioned values are put to task when he is the only witness to a heart-throb movie-star’s (Baldwin) indiscretions with a local teenage girl (Stiles).
