It presents a dramatised version of the mutiny that occurred in 1905 when the crew of the Russian battleship Potemkin rebelled against their officers of the Tsarist regime.

It's been referenced and paraphrased in so many movies that I almost forgot the original. :-)

So glad to finally have a chance to see it.

The staircase scene starts at 44:20 minutes in. Horrifying in parts, still.
