What is the difference between inside and outside bets?
Although both bet types are placed on the Roulette table, any bet placed on or within the numbered boxes 0 – 36, is classed as an inside bet. Any bet placed on the outskirts of the numbers is classed as an outside bet.
Corner – 8:1
A bet consisting of four numbers wagered from just one betting chip. To place a corner bet, you will need to place a betting chip where the four corners of four numbers meet – for example, 20, 21, 23 and 24.
Snake – 2:1
The bet is named after the serpent-like shape created along the table when this is played. In order to play the snake bet, you’ll need to place a betting chip in boxes 1, 5, 9, 12, 14, 16, 19, 23, 27, 30, 32 and 34.
Split – 17:1
If you can’t decide between two numbers which happen to sit next to each other on the table layout, whether that be side by side or above and below one another, you can place a bet called a split. When you place a betting chip on the line between two numbers, you place a wager on both numbers, splitting your wagering amount between them.
Straight Up – 35:1
If you have a favourite number or one that just seems to always bring you luck, and you place a betting chip on this single number within the table layout, this is called a straight-up bet.
High / Low – 1:1
Known as an even money bet, if you predict the winning number to be either between 1 – 18 (low) or 19 – 36 (high), you will need to place a betting chip in the corresponding box within the table layout. The boxes themselves may vary from table to table by either stating low or high, 1 – 18 or 19 – 36.
Red / Black – 1:1
If you’d rather bet on the colour of the pocket, rather than the numbers, there is an outside bet that lets you do just that. The option to place a betting chip on either red or black is also known as an even money bet.
Odd / Even – 1:1
Rather than predicting the colour of the pocket or whether the number within the pocket is high or low, this betting option lets you predict if the winning number is of odd or even status. Like the last two previous bets mentioned, this too is an even money bet.
These are just a few of the many inside and outside bets you can place when playing a game or two of online Roulette – Which will you play within your next game?
